Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has received his knighthood for services to music. “It means a lot actually. It means recognition for the things we’ve done. I was really pleased to accept this.”
Jerry Hammack has just released volume 2 of The Beatles Recording Reference Manual – a book that reveals the secrets behind the recording of some of the band’s most famous albums. It is the second of what will be a four-volume set.
“What Goes On” is a track, credited Lennon/McCartney/Starr, from 1965 Beatles’ album Rubber Soul. It opens the second side, if you still love the vinyls.

The Beatles Recording Reference Manuals is the first book of the four-book series by Jerry Hammack. The first volume goes from “My Bonnie” through “Beatles For Sale” The books reconstruct each song’s creation as well as detailing the technical profile of each and every classic Beatles recording session from 1961 to 1970.
The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on June 1, 1967. For its 50th anniversary a special reissue packages of CD and vinyl versions is announced for May 26, 2017.
